Think Of England, directed by Richard Hawkins, is a bold satirical drama officially selected in Competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. Set during World War II on the eve of the Normandy landings, the film follows six people sent to a deserted island to produce government-commissioned pornographic films intended to boost soldiers’ morale. As tensions mount and hidden presences emerge, the story explores how war distorts moral boundaries and reshapes what society considers acceptable. Provocative and darkly ironic, Think Of England stands out for its unique premise and daring storytelling.

Variety

A thought-provoking exploration of truth and deceit, moral boundaries, a nod to acting, through a character-driven WW2 porn satire.”

Cine Europa

Emotionally, Think of England moves at a fast pace, navigating drama, occasional gruesomeness and comedy with a surprising degree of balance.“

ScreenAnarchy

The film is based on an actual wartime initiative and carries clear relevance for the present, particularly in its examination of propaganda and entrenched masculinity.”

Definitely one of my favourites from this year and absolutely the best film from PÖFF—I had some sort of expectations when going into this and I can safely say they were completely blown away. Visually stunning and artistically made with emotionally wrecking acting from everyone. Jack Bandeira and Natalie Quarry both give such powerful performances, and definitely will be excited to see more from them.
So incredibly grateful to also get to hear from the people who made the film, amazing crew!
